Player Bio
On May 13, 1992, in Puerto Cabello, Carabobo, Venezuela, this professional baseball catcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball was born. Olga and William Contreras are his parents. William, his younger brother, is also a professional baseball player. Willy, as he is known, had humble beginnings. He did not go to an academy or get any professional help when he was a young lad. The catcher began playing on the streets and was accompanied by his brothers. They'd spend hours practising, and his determination and passion paid off when he got an opportunity to attend a baseball academy run by the Chicago Cubs in his home country. He was already sixteen then. Upon impressing everyone at the academy, this young man signed with the Cubs as an international free agent in 2009. In that same year, he made his professional debut with the Cubs of the Dominican Summer League. He's also played for the Boise Hawks, the Kane County Cougars, the Daytona Cubs, and the Tennessee Smokies before making his MLB debut for the Chicago Cubs on June 17, 2016. A two-time All-Star and a World Series champion, Willy has been with the Cubs so far.ncG1vNJzZmivp6x7uMDFqKatZpOkunC8y5qwnqpfrLatuNKopWabn6PBs7HRmqpmpZyXfA%3D%3D
