The San Diego Padres vs Pittsburgh Pirates recent game will be one that Manny Machado will remember after pitcher Angel Perdomo pitched him a ball that was faster than 90 miles per hour to star Manny Machado, but such play did not go unnoticed by MLB officials, and imposed a stiff penalty to the Pirates pitcher.

MLB gives Angel Perdomo a three-game suspension for intentionally hitting Many Machado

The MLB Commissioner's Office announced a three-game suspension for Perdomo, in addition to an undisclosed financial penalty against the Pirates pitcher. The reason for the suspension is that they determined that the 98-mph ball was intentionally thrown against Manny Machado.

Due to the rules established by MLB for this type of event, Pirates manager Derek Shelton was automatically suspended for one game. According to Major League Baseball procedures, when it is determined that a pitcher intentionally hit a batter, the manager of the team also receives an automatic one-game suspension.

The unfortunate play between Perdomo and Machado happened in the bottom of the seventh inning while the Pirates pitcher allowed a gigantic home run to Juan Soto before receiving Manny Machado. When the Minister took the batter's box, he was hit in the back on the first pitch and the umpires decided to eject Perdomo and the Pirates' manager after a brief meeting. MLB officials also warned the dugouts of both teams that if anyone else was hit by a ball, the ejection would be automatic.

"When you allow a hit like that, I would have been upset too. I don't think people respect anybody now," Machado began by telling the press after the game."I guess I've matured, if it had happened three or four years ago, we would still be out there (fighting) (...) but it is what it is, there's no need to worry. We got the win which is the most important thing and nothing happened, so we're fine," added the Padres' third baseman.
