Many people don’t realize Little Mix’s stance as true LGBT advocates and allies. In many interviews, the girl group have discussed how supportive they are of the community. They’ve shown their beautiful support in many ways.

For example, when interviewing for Attitude Magazine back in 2015, the girls reveal how acceptance for LGBTQ+ individuals has slowly but surely become more prominent. Perrie Edwards discussed that she’d get into fights for her gay friends and explains that:

“When we’d go on a night out my gay friends would get stick and I’d get so pissed off. I’d get into fights over standing up for our gay mates, saying ‘who are you to judge?”

Jade Thirlwall also mentions that she goes to gay clubs to support and celebrate gay culture saying:

“I’ll be at Heaven every saturday or I’ll go and see Porn idol at G-A-Y”.

Little Mix have also gotten involved with the MAD Trust and West End Bares which is a “burlesque and tease show created to to raise funds and awareness for the MAD Trust in the fight to end HIV and AIDS”.

Thirlwall further commented on the shows stating that:

“It’s an AMAZING cause and it’s a fun way of giving money to something really worthy. It’s a great show and you’re guaranteed to have a brilliant night”.

In part of the groups’ devotion to the LGBTQ+ community, they also (as you may already know) created an LGBT anthem in ‘Secret Love Song’, the top ten Gold certified hit that according to Thirlwall, “is a narrative for the struggles LGBT people are faced with when coming to terms with their sexuality and public affection”.

By the way, have you seen their critically acclaimed performance of ‘Sissy That Walk’ and ‘Supermodel’ at G-A-Y? Both RuPaul and Michelle Visage have applauded the group for their performance. We’re gonna go ahead and leave it for you below to replay over and over again.

Now we understand why Little Mix received a nomination at this years British LGBT Awards 2016 for Music Artist. As strong allies, they’ve definitely shown their underlying support for the community and we’re so proud to see their actions and initiatives in doing so.
