Haileybury College, Keysborough: Man hospitalised after car crashes into school pool

An 80-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after reversing a car into a Melbourne private school swimming pool. The silver RAV 4 wagon, along with other debris, was floating in a pool at the Haileybury College campus in Keysborough on Thursday morning.

An 80-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after reversing a car into a Melbourne private school swimming pool.

The silver RAV 4 wagon, along with other debris, was floating in a pool at the Haileybury College campus in Keysborough on Thursday morning.

The man reversed the vehicle into the school’s aquatic centre along Springvale Rd about 8.15am, with witnesses nearby helping him from the submerged car.

Emergency services arrived just before 8.30am, with paramedics transporting the man to Cabrini Malvern hospital.

A Haileybury College spokesperson said the driver of the car was a grandfather of one of the students.

“There were no students around at the time and thankfully no injuries,” the spokesperson told the Herald Sun.

Police are yet to determine the cause of the crash and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
