A visibly distraught Zach Wilson blamed another New York Jets loss on himself.
After the Kansas City Chiefs' 23-20 on Sunday night, Jets players attempted to pick up Wilson and reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes did the same.
“He played his tail off, he battled," Mahomes told NBC after Kansas City improved to 3-1. "We have a good defense and he made a lot of big-time throws into the windows and down the field. I've watched him since his BYU days so I was proud of him to go out there and show out."
With Kansas City leading by three points and 35 seconds left in the game, several Jets players were seen comforting Wilson near the sideline.
One teammate patted the quarterback's chest and another quietly spoke to him while kneeling down.
Wilson (28-of-39, 245 yards, two touchdowns) put up better numbers than Mahomes, who threw two interceptions and only posted a 63.6 passer rating.

But a late fumble by Wilson helped hand Kansas City the victory.
The Chiefs led 17-0 after the first quarter.
New York then outscored the Super Bowl champs 20-6 but was unable to seal the win.
“To be driving right there, to drop a snap, I cannot do that,” Wilson said.

“You know, I lost us this game and I can not do that.”
New York’s season has been a mess since Aaron Rodgers went down.
Sunday was one of the best games of Wilson’s career, though, as the former No. 2 overall pick kept the Jets close and played sharp football most of the game.
"If he plays that way, we're going to win a lot of football games," New York coach Robert Saleh said.
Pop superstar Taylor Swift watched Travis Kelce and the Chiefs for the second straight game and superhero actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were also in attendance.
But even with Rodgers supporting the Jets, New York fell to 1-3 and Wilson had to be picked up by his teammates.
Kansas City is in first place in the AFC West after four games and again one of the elite teams in the AFC.
The Jets are tied with the New England Patriots at the bottom of the AFC East.
Bill Belichick has his own QB troubles with the Pats - Mac Jones was benched on Sunday during a 38-3 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

It was another tough loss for the Jets and another weekly victory for the Chiefs, who are already staring at another playoff berth.
