Members of one of the nation’s most high-profile motorcycle gangs have descended on Melbourne following a 350km journey from the Victorian border.
Hundreds of bikies from Finks OMCG travelled to the southeast Melbourne suburb of Cranbourne, where the group’s headquarters are based, after leaving Wodonga on Saturday morning under close police scrutiny.
The riders completed their annual national run despite Victoria Police issuing a warning earlier this week that they would be under heavy monitoring from specialist units, including the Echo and VIPER task forces.
The run took place without incident and no arrests were made.
Victoria Police Sergeant Julie-Anne Newman said last week authorities would have zero tolerance for illegal behaviour along the group’s run.
“Echo and VIPER Task Force's along with local police and specialist units will be closely monitoring the run to ensure the safety of all road users,” Ms Newman said.
“There will be an increased police presence in the relevant areas over the weekend.
“Police will be monitoring riders both in Victoria and interstate as they travel to Wodonga in the lead up to the run and will take immediate action where any criminal, road safety or public order offences are identified.
“Victoria Police will continue to work with other law enforcement agencies as part of a national approach to OMCG enforcement.”
Finks members completed a similar journey in January last year, but in the opposite direction, leaving from their Cranbourne base for Wodonga.
