According to a report from Entertainment Tonight, Jamie Lynn, Britney Spears’ father, is pushing for his conservatorship to extend across other American states, including Louisiana.

Court documents filed in Parish County, Louisiana, obtained by the aforementioned outlet, claim Jamie filed the paperwork to extend the conservatorship in Louisiana, her home state. The conservatorship began back in 2008 when Britney was involved in a media fiasco.

Jamie subsequently became her sole conservator this year after her other one, Andrew Wallet, resigned from his duties in March. Reportedly, the idea of a conservatorship means the “removal of the right to care for one’s own person and affairs.”

One of the stipulations in California is for the conservator to have the expressed authority to limit communications with other individuals if they so choose. It was back in May when ET reported that Britney’s conservatorship was going smoothly, as reports claimed Britney and her father were talking on a regular basis.

Ironically, around that same time, a #FreeBritney hash-tag began trending on social media in which conspiracy theories flourished, chief among them was one stating Jamie was holding Britney in an institution against her will.

The theories went so far as to suggest Britney was in a mental institution and her social media accounts were still active, but someone else was behind them, posting regular content as a way of making it seem like Spears was free when really, she was institutionalized.

Spears later came out on her Instagram to urge fans to stop speculating on her private life, and avoid sending threatening messages to her family.

Last month, Britney was at a courthouse in Los Angeles with her mother to attend a hearing on the conservatorship. A judge appointed a special investigator to evaluate whether the conservatorship was running smoothly as intended.

Britney requested a few different freedoms from the judge, however, she wasn’t granted any of them. Her boyfriend, Sam Asghari, is reportedly one of her primary pillars of support.
