What else should I know about Hovig?
Hovig Demirjian was born in Cyprus and is of Armenian descent. He became known as ‘The Music Messenger’ after coming second in a music competition in his home country. His first single ‘Den mou milas alithina’ was released in 2009 before his appearance on the second season of the X Factor Greece. Hovig went on to finish seventh on the show, before returning to Cyprus to continue his career.
Hovig has since competed on two separate occasions to represent Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest. On his first attempt in 2010 he came third singing ‘Goodbye’ and in 2015 he came fourth with the song ‘Stone in a River’. In October 2016, however, Hovig’s patience paid off and he finally won the honour of representing his country at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.
